Eric Pirooz
- Manager
- Actor
Eric got his degree in Theatre Studies concentration Acting & Directing from the University of Texas at Austin. Just after graduation he left Texas and headed to Hollywood, determined to make a living in the Entertainment Industry.
He wanted to be an actor, and had some success. He signed commercially with Hugh Leon at Coast to Coast. Through CTC he got his first national spot, a Sprint commercial. That was the pinnacle of his commercial career, and he did multiple student films, indie projects and web series.
In 2010 he left LA and went to NYC--to see the greener grass. It only took 6 months to realize the grass in LA was way better, and he headed back.
On his way back to LA, he made some decisions. He decided he no longer wanted to be an actor, and through a series of hilarious coincidences, he decided he should be an agent.
He started to intern at Sanders Armstrong Caserta Management and Sovereign Talent Agency simultaneously, while supporting himself and working full time in the restaurant industry. After his internship, he was hired into the Mailroom of Innovative Artists.
Eric was at Innovative for 60 days, and then got promoted to the desk of Sr. VP of Innovative and head of the VO Dept, Marcia Hurwitz. He learned a lot working for her, but realized during that time that being an agent wasn't for him--he wanted to be a Manager.
Eric felt being a Manager was more suited to his personality--and being a former actor, he felt that he had a connection to other actors that agents simply didn't get, because they hadn't lived through the actor's struggle, like Eric had.
Through his good friend and colleague, Ashely Hillard, he was introduced to Michael Colucci at WOS Group Entertainment.
Michael and Eric hit it off immediately. During their first year together they placed clients in multiple projects, from Regional Theater to recurring guests on major Network television.
After three wonderful years at WOS, Eric launched NOVA Talent Group in January of 2018.
The pandemic really affected NOVA greatly. In one day 7 different clients were fired from shows, due to Theatre going dark across the country. All production stopped as Eric waited to see what would happen next. Luckily, VO was only shut down completely for one month, and his VO clients were able to support the company until production started up again, followed by live theater.
Today Eric is beyond proud that his company was able to withstand a global pandemic during its formative years. NOVA is stronger than ever, and is ready to take one whatever happens next.
Eric currently lives in Los Angeles, CA, with his two Scottish Fold cats named Apollo and Artemis (an homage to NASA and the upcoming lunar program!)
