The fifth episode of “Survivor 43” was so jam-packed that there wasn’t enough time for CBS to show everything that happened on television. Luckily, the network has released two deleted scenes this week that viewers will undoubtedly enjoy. In one video (watch above), Cassidy Clark takes a moment to “stay calm” as she meditates on the Coco beach. In another video (click here to watch in a second article), Dwight Moore discusses how his Vesi tribe is “on a roll” and he predicts a “winning streak” in challenges going forward.
At the Coco camp, Cassidy’s name has been on the chopping block twice in a row now, but her strong alliance with Karla Cruz Godoy and James Jones has given them the numbers. So far they’ve voted out Lindsay Carmine and Geo Bustamante, both of whom were blindsided. The remaining player now on the outs is Ryan Medrano.

Confident in his position on the Coco tribe, Geo Bustamante was not expecting to be blindsided when his tribe returned to “Survivor” tribal council for the second week in a row. The 36-year-old from Hawaii became the fifth elimination of the season, ending a record-tying four female elimination streak and preventing Geo from making next week’s merge. Read his “Survivor 43” exit interview below.
After the Coco tribe united to vote out Lindsay Carmine last week, both Geo and his main ally Ryan Medrano were feeling well-positioned within their tribe. Neither of the guys knew that their cockiness had started to rub their tribe the wrong way many days prior and that the others were actually united against them. Cassidy Clark suspected Geo and Ryan would be targeting her this week based on the fact that Geo voted for her last week as the safety option in case of a surprise tie.

The fifth episode of “Survivor 43” airs Wednesday, October 19 on CBS, and it will begin with a whopper of a scene between Cassidy Clark and Geo Bustamante. (Watch the “Survivor 43” sneak peek video above.) Remember, last week their Coco tribe went to tribal council for the first time, where Lindsay Carmine was voted out by 4-1-1 vote over Cassidy and Geo. When the remaining players get back to camp on Night 9, Geo tries to explain why he wrote Cassidy’s name down, but she’s not having any of it.
“Geo is just like clueless about the game,” Cassidy tells the camera. “It’s like, are you kidding me? Ryan and Geo think that they have the numbers right now, but the truth is, they’re at the bottom,” she adds, referring to Ryan Medrano. The other two members of Coco are Karla Cruz Godoy and James Jones.

Wednesday night on CBS, Jeff Probst officially lit the torch on the 43rd season of “Survivor.” Just like the last two cycles, this year’s crop of 18 contestants have been divided into three tribes and come from diverse backgrounds and walks of life. In Wednesday’s two-hour premiere, viewers met the new castaways and found out who had the unfortunate title of being the first person voted off the island.

The first episode of a new “Survivor” season can often feel like homework to longtime fans, as they’re introduced to 18 brand new personalities and multiple tribes within the span of an hour. That’s why Gold Derby is providing you with this handy dandy cheat sheet of the “Survivor 43” tribe designations and colors. Scroll down to see how the 18 castaways have been divided into the Baka (yellow), Coco (blue) and Vesi (red) tribes for this Fall 2022 installment. The show premieres Wednesday, September 21 on CBS.
First up, a quick reminder that “Survivor 43” filmed in early spring in the beautiful islands of Fiji (the show’s permanent home). And once again, there will be no theme/subtitle for the new cycle. Gone are the days of titles like “Survivor: Worlds Apart” or “Survivor: Edge of Extinction,” replaced instead by the number of the season. It’s likely this trend will continue for “Survivor 44,” “Survivor 45,” etc.

“Survivor 43” contestant James Jones may have waited for the perfect version of the game to implement a strategy that involves embracing “more variables” and “more chaos” in order to win the million dollars. His day job is working as an event planner in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Watch his full CBS interview below.
In his video, James compares “Survivor” to chess in that “there’s not one way to actually win” either game. He says, “I feel like it’s timing. When do you make that move? When do you deviate from the plan to throw your opponent off guard?” James used those strategies as a young kid when he played chess competitively in tournaments across the United States. He plans to implement them again now at the age of 37 in his goal of becoming the “sole Survivor.”
