Sara was born and raised near Grand Rapids, Michigan. She started performing early on, with singing and dance and adding theater in high school. After a short stint in college, she moved to Los Angeles with friends and her husky Starr in the fall of 1999 to pursue film and television. Sara quickly found her way on set and loved the magic of it as well as the exploration of the human condition. However, shortly after joining SAG-AFTRA, she decided to take a hiatus from on camera work. During her hiatus, she got married to her husband Todd, worked for several years in Casting, finished a Photography degree at Santa Monica College and a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Environmental Studies at UCLA, and started her own photography business. She and her husband moved back to Michigan with their dogs in 2017, and Sara starting working on an organic vegetable farm and then ran a large farmers market for 5 years. Sara reconnected with her love of acting during the Covid pandemic, and has been back at it ever since.
When she is not acting, you can find her in her garden, hiking with Todd and their pup Fig, or volunteering at the local animal shelters and a local duck sanctuary.
