Indian filmmaker Pratyusha Gupta is a London Film School alumna, fascinated by questions of identity, gender, class and religion - themes that dominate her films. She has worked in the fields of documentary, television and advertising for over six years in Mumbai before moving to London. Her focus has been on developing strong, honest characters and tracing their journey within a realistic, yet poetic style. Pratyusha's short film, Asylum, was commissioned by the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Her previous short, Oysters, starring Radhika Apte was commissioned by Film London and the BFI Network. It was also selected for the East End Film Festival and the Underwire Film Festival in 2017. Her debut short film, Safar, has travelled extensively to festivals and won the Audience award for Best Short film at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) as well as Stuttgart in 2015. Pratyusha has worked as a freelance 1st AD on Leena Yadav's Parched and multiple other features, shorts, and TV dramas both in India and the UK over the last decade. She was selected for the BFI Network x BAFTA Crew Talent Development program in 2018 and for the Director's UK Inspire Mentorship Program in 2019. She is based in Mumbai and currently developing a feature film as a writer/director as well as an original show with a leading Indian writer.
