The screenwriter for the Warner Brothers produced and Mike Jones biopic
American Dream, was born on December 28, 1971, in Houston, Texas as the
youngest of five children. Graduated from James Madison High School in
1990 and served three years in the Marine Corps 1991-1994. Voted to the
All Marine All Decade Football Team 1990-1999. During his time in the
Marine Corps, Johnson was awarded The Navy Achievement Medal for saving
a Marine, who had almost drowned, by bringing him back to life with CPR. Two
time Junior College All American and the career reception leader at
Mount San Jacinto College (94-95). Voted the team's MVP in 1995. Two
year letterman as a tight end, University of Utah (96-98). Graduated
from the University of Utah, 1999 with a BS in Sociology and a BA in
Film Studies/Screenwriting and studied under Actor and Professor Frank
Gerrish. Soundtech and Video Treatment writer for Mecca Motion Pictures
1999-2000. Worked under director Greg Carter (Fifth Ward).
Award-winning screenwriter. Awards include HBO/ABFF, Santa Barbara and
San Francisco Black Film Festival. Video credits include Joey Montana,
Pimp Cee and The Youngbloodz. Sister Darlette Johnson, is credited as
Beyonce Knowles first dance teacher and has been featured on VH1, E!,
BET, MTV and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. CJ Johnson is known for making
short notice deadlines with quality writing. He is an up and coming
screenwriter that is sure to make a name for himself in Hollywood.
