- He was the pilot of an Air France plane which was hijacked and flown to Entebbe, Uganda in 1976. Palestinians demanded the release of militants held by Israel and four other countries, and a $5m ransom. The hostage-takers separated the Jewish passengers from the rest, who were allowed to leave. Captain Bacos and his crew also were allowed to go, but they refused to leave while some of their passengers were still being held hostage.
