- Acquired the nickname Home Run Baker when, in 1911, he led the American League in home runs and hit home runs which helped to win two games in that year's World Series.
- In 1909 led the American League in triples with 19. Led American League third basemen in fielding percentage in 1911 (.942) and 1918 (.972).
- Led the American League in home runs four years in a row, 1911-1914; totals were 11, 10, 12, and 9 respectively.
- Inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1955.
- Made major league debut on 21 September 1908.
- Third baseman with the Philadelphia Athletics (1908-1914), New York Yankees (1916-1922).
- Inducted into the Maryland State Athletic Hall of Fame in 1956.
- Inducted into the Delaware County [Pennsylvania] Athletes Hall of Fame in 1956 (inaugural class).
- Inducted into the Eastern Shore Baseball Hall of Fame in 1995.
