Daniel was born in Amsterdam (Holland) to Colombian parents, and also lived in Tokyo (Japan) and Manizales (Colombia) during his childhood. This multicultural exposure marked him in his writing and directing sensibilities.
He attended the Miami Film School and his student film, "The Storyteller" (2010), is a magical realism version of his own childhood.
He has participated in three 48 hour film projects, out of which "Patch" (2011), "Duplas" (2014) and "PPH Squad" (2015) were spawned.
"The Storyteller" was selected by the 2010 Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival, the 2011 New Filmmakers New York Film Festival, and 2011 Downtown Boca Raton Film Festival (winner).
"Duplas" was selected by the 2015 Miami Science Fiction Film Festival.
"PPH Squad" was awarded Best Florida Film by the 2016 Miami Science Fiction Film Festival, it won Best Original Short Film at the 2016 Hollywood Florida Film Festival, it was nominated to 6 categories at the 2016 Miami Life Awards where it won 4 (Best Screenplay, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress), and it was selected by the 2016 Los Angeles CineFest Film Festival.
