- While Major League Baseball players were on strike, Lidle (who was in the lower-level minor leagues at the time) was used as a replacement player by the Milwaukee Brewers during spring training in 1995. Because of this, he was unable to be a part of the Major League Baseball Players Association, preventing his name or likeness from being on MLB licensed products, including video games.
- Was killed when his personal airplane crashed into the 40th floor of a 50-story residential building on Manhattan's Upper East Side on October 11, 2006. The plane was registered to Lidle and his passport was found on the street below the residential building which was involved in the crash.
