NBC’s extremely late-night forays are coming to a close with the end of A Little Late With Lilly Singh.
The show, which airs at 1:30am, will be coming to an end with its second season and the network is moving out of original programming for the slot that it previously called a “creative playground”.
The move is a blow to the diversity of late-night television as Singh is the only woman hosting a show on a broadcast network, but it is unsurprising given the ratings attached to a show that airs so late. The final episode will air on Thursday June 3.
A Little Late with Lilly Singh launched in September 2019, a replacement for Last Call with Carson Daly, and followed The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers in the schedule. However, there was a large gap between seasons one and two due to...

A Little Late with Lilly Singh will look a little different when it returns in January with a new set and a whole team behind the scenes.
Neil Punsalan, who was recently showrunner of Comedy Central series Doing the Most with Phoebe Robinson, is taking over showrunning duties from Aliyah Silverstein. John Irwin, who was also an exec producer on Season 1, also has exited.
Chelsea Davison, who has written for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Lights Out with David Spade as well as the first season of A Little Late, becomes head writer, replacing Sean O’Connor.
She is the only remaining writer from Season 1, other than Singh herself, with a new writing staff including Vannessa Jackson, Sabeeh Jameel, Romen Borsellino, Nimesh Patel, Neuli Handa and Natasha Vaynblat.
Polly Auritt, who works with Singh at her production company Unicorn Island Productions, also will exec produce with Singh, and Davison is co-exec producer.

“A Little Late With Lilly Singh” will have a whole new look for Season 2 — and a new writing staff, including Chelsea Davison as head writer. She replaces Sean O’Connor.
Staff writers for Season 2 are Vannessa Jackson, Sabeeh Jameel, Romen Borsellino, Nimesh Patel, Neuli Handa and Natasha Vaynblat. Neil Punsalan is showrunner.

Mashable rolls out multiple videos per week on platforms like YouTube and Snapchat, and with its latest hire, it is putting itself in position to scale up even more. The digital media company has hired Polly Auritt, formerly of Fullscreen, as the Head of Programming and Development at Mashable Studios.
Auritt’s Mashable gig is a newly-created position that builds on the work Mashable Studios has done since its 2015 launch. The content shop’s videos, many of which are sponsored, have tended to be short, but the decision to hire Auritt could spark a push into more long-form content. Digital studio Fullscreen and Eli Roth’s horror platform Crypt TV are searching for the next great horror series. The two companies have joined forces for El Terror, a filmmaking competition that will award a series deal to its winning creative team.
The rules for El Terror are simple: Potential entrants can head over to the contest’s official website, where they will be invited a single 30-second clip that shows off the concept for their most terrifying, bone-chilling web series idea. Submissions will be accepted until September 1st, at which point the contest’s three celebrity judges -- Roth, Danny Trejo, and Julia Kelly -- will choose 10 finalists, all of whom will develop “series bibles” alongside Crypt TV. Ultimately, a winner will be selected, and their series will be developed for distribution on the recently-launched fullscreen streaming video service.
The El Terror contest is designed to be purely democratic,...

Fullscreen has named Scott Reich senior vice president of programming, where he will be tasked with overseeing development of scripted and unscripted projects -- as well as content acquisition -- for the company’s recently-launched eponymous subscription platform.
