The promise of a Mandalorian bounty hunter and decades of classic Disney programming were more than enough to get millions of viewers to sign up for Disney+ during the service’s bustling launch week, matching early optimism for the latest streaming addition.
Analysts were quite optimistic about Disney+ in the months leading up to last Tuesday’s launch, and early data suggests their bullishness was warranted: Disney said there were 10 million signups for the company’s new streaming service within a day of its launch. The company’s stock jumped up around 7 percent after the announcement and has stayed relatively steady since.
That said, the Disney statistic is presumably inflated by seven-day free trial accounts and also includes signups from the various promotional deals Disney has offered over the last few months. Those deals include a discounted three-year subscription and gifting a free year of the service to Verizon customers...

ABC’s new drama “A Million Little Things” was the most engaging new broadcast TV show across social media following its premiere last week, with CBS’s “Murphy Brown” reboot with Candice Bergen also turning in strong numbers, according to data compiled by ListenFirst Media.
Social posts for “A Million Little Things” garnered 220,349 social reactions the week of Sept. 24-30 across platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The show also had the most content shares, with about 15,000 for the week, out of all new broadcast shows for the fall 2018 season, per ListenFirst.
“A Million Little Things” has been likened to NBC’s hit drama “This Is Us,” but it’s worth noting that “This Is Us” had a social-engagement score three times higher during its premiere week in 2016, as measured by ListenFirst.
Also, the volume of social-media chatter doesn’t always correspond to TV ratings. The premiere of “A Million Little Things...

Which series from the cavalcade rolled out at the 2018 broadcast TV upfronts are poised to pop in primetime?
NBC’s new medical drama “New Amsterdam” and The CW’s reboot of “Charmed” are among the top social-media darlings of the moment, if data about their initial reception online is any indication — although sometimes, it isn’t a terrific predictor.
This year, “New Amsterdam” is showing early signs it could be a breakout hit, according to data-analytics firm ListenFirst Media. The new series ranked in the top three among all shows presented during the 2018 TV broadcast upfronts across organic conversation, social engagement, video views, and positive sentiment, as measured over the past week.
The social profile of “New Amsterdam” is “similar to the trend we saw with NBC’s ‘This Is Us’ during the 2016-17 TV upfronts season,” said Jason Klein, ListenFirst’s co-ceo. Indeed, the network has slotted “New Amsterdam” on Tuesdays at 10 p.

Here's a great sci-fi drama short called The Perfect Time. It comes from writer/director Jason Klein, and it's won a good deal of awards. This is just a solid film that I think most of you will like. It tells the "darkly beautiful story of a man determined to complete the construction of a machine that will allow him to live in his favorite memory...forever." Here's some additional info...
A sci-fi drama produced for $6K entered and won a contest that awarded $50,000 to the winner. Hundreds of submissions were uploaded, viewed and voted on by the public and narrowed down to ten. The top ten films were then judged by an illustrious panel if judges including Kevin Spacey, Judi Dench, Sacha Baron Cohen and Laurence Fishburne. ‘The Perfect Time’ was awarded the Grand Prize.
Check it out for youself and see why it won the grand prize!

Spacey Boosts Budding Director's Career With Cash Award
Oscar winner Kevin Spacey has given rising moviemaker Jason Musante Klein's career a big boost after awarding him a $50,000 (£31,250) cheque for his work on short film The Perfect Time.
Spacey set up the website Triggerstreet.com in 2002 to give budding directors the chance to gain major exposure and backing for their movie projects.
Klein's tale of memory and longing attracted the attention of Spacey and fellow Triggerstreet awards judges Laurence Fishburne and British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, landing it the top honour.
Sunday's presentation to Klein was also a first for Triggerstreet.com - it was the biggest cash prize Spacey's organisation has handed out to date, reports the New York Post.

You might not automatically recognize the name Trigger Street if you work outside of the film industry, but you definitely know some of their work: "Beyond the Sea," "The Big Kahuna" and, most recently, the upcoming Aaron Sorkin-penned, David Fincher-directed Facebook biopic, "The Social Network." And even if none of those sound immediately familiar, the production company's co-founder definitely will: Oscar winner Kevin Spacey.
If you happen to be a young/aspiring filmmaker, then you should know about Trigger Street. The production company's online presence, TriggerStreet.com, was relaunched a number of years ago as an online community catering to up-and-comers in the industry. Just this week, for the first time in the network's history, a member of that community has taken home a monetary award for his participation in a short film contest co-sponsored by Trigger Street and Stella Artois: Jason Musante Klein's "The Perfect Time."

Jason Musante Klein's 10-minute short film The Perfect Time was just named the winner of the 2009 Stella Artois Short Film Award Project. The Belgian lager company and Kevin Spacey's Trigger Street Productions co-sponsored the competition (talk about paying it forward!), which featured a panel of glitzy A-list judges such as Laurence "Morpheus" Fishburne, Borat's Sacha Baron Cohen, Dame Judi Dench, "You're Beautiful" songwriter James Blunt, and, of course, Oscar-winner Spacey himself. The newly-minted winner is a native of upstate New York and attended New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, graduating with a Bfa in Film/TV Production.
