Born and raised in New York, Robert Burger is a multi-instrumentalist, film composer, and arranger. Burger began playing piano at age 4 and studied with concert pianist Jeffery Marcus. He received his formal education in classical performance as well as improvisation at the University of Massachusetts, under the direction of Yusef Lateef. He was a founding member of the Tin Hat Trio, and has composed and contributed to many acclaimed films including Trouble, Nebraska, Everything Is Illuminated, Bully, and 360. He has been featured as a soloist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and has recorded and performed worldwide with artists such as Elvis Costello, Laurie Anderson, Marianne Faithfull, Lucinda Williams, and Iron & Wine.
