As I compiled this list of musical scenes written or improvised by the actors who performed them, I quickly realized that I could never cover everything. The amount of music written by the actors in Christopher Guest films alone would more than double the size of this article. So I tried to limit myself to scenes and movies that I'd be able to give some fun insight on.
I literally got goosebumps rewatching some of these musical scenes. I hope you're inspired to give some of these movies a whirl in the DVD/Blu-ray player afterwards with a new sense of appreciation for the work that went into these musical moments.

Washington -- If you want to see the President of the United States or the band The Presidents Of The United States Of America or your favorite touring band, you want to be in Washington D.C.
The 9:30 Club, one of our favorite rooms, ranked number one on Rolling Stone's list of The Best Big Rooms in America. Their list consists of large clubs and theaters, roughly 500 to 3,000 seat spaces, voted on by managers and musicians that tour these halls.
The list, released Thursday, includes multiple venues in Los Angeles, New York City and Seattle. Chicago, Minneapolis and San Francisco also have highly rated rooms.
The magazine's list of best clubs in America was released in March. Their lists of best amphitheaters, dance clubs, arenas/stadiums, reader's choice poll and sweepstakes are will be released later this year.

While Nirvana's landmark Nevermind album officially turns 20 this week, the celebration of all things Kurt and company has actually been going on in the band's adopted hometown since late April. That's when the "Nirvana: Taking Punk to the Masses" exhibit opened at Seattle's Experience Music Project.
The carefully curated compendium of all things Nirvana is a kind of holy grail for the band's biggest fans, but according to curator Jacob McMurray, it's also been a magnet for typically jaded locals who have grudgingly (or is it, sorry, grunge-ingly?) have dropped in and admitted that, yeah, it's pretty awesome.
"For me, it's been way more than I expected," McMurray said of the thousands who've wandered in to gawk at such iconic objects as the band's first recording contract and late singer Kurt Cobain's first smashed guitar. "Every time I go into the gallery, even if it's a Monday morning, it will be packed.

Who would have ever thought that the alternative band The Presidents of the United States of America and Pokémon would make good bedfellows...but, as I can attest from coming out of my lurkdom to announce...apparently Nintendo has made it happen.
The Presidents of the United States of America, best known for their songs "Peaches", "Lump", "Kitty" and the theme song to the Drew Carey Show "Cleveland Rocks"(shut up, it's an awesome song!), will be playing tomorrow at New York's Rockefeller at Nintendo's launch shin-dig for Pokémon Black and White, where they'll be performing their Pokémon-themed song "Can't Stop Catchin' 'Em All".
I remember listening to PotUSA in the car with my older sister while in middle school, acting like I was so cool...so this has quite a bit of nostalgia for me. I also was lucky to see them in their first live performance before their...
