Mic Christopher was born in the Bronx, New York. He and his family
moved to Ireland, Dublin in 1972 (when he was three-years-old). His
parents are of Irish heritage. He became a Busker in Dublin for 5
years. In 1990, he formed a band called The Mary Janes. The band would
go on to record 2 albums "Bored Of Their Laughing" and "Sham". The band
also performed at Glastonbury and spent 6 weeks in Bosnia to perform
with the War child charity organization. The band split in 1999. Mic
Christopher would go on to record his solo "EP-Heyday".
Tragically and unexpectedly after performing in Netherlands, Christopher was found unconscious, having apparently struck his head on some steps following a fall. He was rushed to the hospital on the 18th of November 2001. Unfortunately, severe swelling of the the brain caused his death on November 29th 2001.
In 2002, "Skylarkin'", Mic Christophers only solo album, was posthumously released. His song "Heyday" was also featured in a Guinness advert, which helped him gain new fans.
He was very well-respected among fellow Irish singers. As a Busker, he met many musicians including Glen Hansard of The Frames. Damien Rice dedicated his album, "O", to Mic Christopher. A younger talent named Lisa Hannigan dedicated her song, "Splishy Splashy", to Christopher.
