But writer-director Sherad Anthony Sanchez uses these weaponizes these words -- his wild card -- timing it right, waiting for the build-up to reach its peak before releasing it to maximum efficacy. The statement is layered in a way that serves as entertainment, delivering the best chuckles in the movie, but at the same time a clever commentary on an industry where lives can be considered secondary to a well-framed shot. The Singapore International Film Festival (Sgiff) has announced that the sophomore edition of its Southeast Asian (Sea) Film Lab will be headed by producer Terence Chang, best known for hits such as Face/Off, Red Cliff and Mission Impossible 2.
Singaporean director Yong Mun Chee (Where the Road Meets the Sun) and Filipino director Sherad Anthony Sanchez (Imburnal, Jungle Love) will join Chang as mentors at the six-day workshop for debuting feature directors.
Sea Film Lab is taking applications until Aug 21.
Sgiff executive director Yuni Hadi, also a co-producer on the Cannes Camera d’or winner Ilo Ilo, told Screendaily: “The Southeast Asian Film Lab in addition to the Southeast Asian Short Film competition section, which both started last year, is the returning Sgiff putting our faith in discovering and investing in the next generation of filmmakers from Southeast Asia.”

The closing film will be the Polish premiere of Malgoska Szumowska’s Berlinale competition title and Teddy Award winner In the Name of.
Festival organizers also announced the films in competition at this year’s event.
The New Horizons International Competition consists of 12 Polish premieres including Rotterdam competition title Noche by Leonardo Brzezicki, Locarno Fipresci award winner Leviathan by Lucien Castaing-Taylor and Véréna Paravel, as well as this year’s Cannes’ Un Certain Regard title Stranger by the Lake by Alain Guiraudie.
