- Freda Nelson Evans was born in Bakersfield, California. At the age of 2, her parents moved to El Paso, Texas where she grew up. She attended El Paso High School and the University of Texas El Paso (UTEP) where she had a 4 year scholarship in Vocal Music Performance. She got involved with community theater there and found her love for singing and acting. Although she started off singing in the chorus, after a few years she was performing lead roles. Her favorite roles include Dolly Levy in "Hello Dolly", Bloody Mary in "South Pacific", Golde in "Fiddler on the Roof", Katisha in "The Mikado", and Little Buttercup in "Pirates of Penzance".
