Deborah Osborn started her career at the São Paulo Museum of Image and Sound - Film Dept. In 1998, she moved to New York where she attended an extension course in cinema at New York University.
In late 2002, she worked as post-production and release assistant for the feature film "Carandiru," by Hector Babenco. In 2004, she was granted a Chevening Scholarship by the British Council and completed her master's degree in cinema at Goldsmith College - University of London.
Back in Brazil, in January 2006, she began as Executive Producer for bigBonsai, a Production Company of which she is one of the founding partners.bigBonsai is based in São Paulo and works in the development and the production of communication projects with special formats for different platforms such as internet, television, cinema, among others.
Over the last ten years bigBonsai has built a reputation as a referential branded audiovisual content "boutique" serving clients such as Nike, Natura, Itaú,Ford, Samsung and many others.
The company is also structuring its' entertainment department for multi-platform fiction and documentary projects focused on the use of audiovisual content for promoting positive impact in society.
In 2014, the multi-platform documentary Dominguinhos, about the life and work of this great master of Brazilian music, was released and has been selected to the most important international festivals around the world including IDFA and Dok Leipzig, and was the only Brazilian film at SXSW and Moscow IFF. The films was awarded with the best audience documentary at Brazilian Film Grand Prize. Its webseries has more than 1.8 million views.
bigBonsai is currently developing international co-production projects with France, Argentina and Chile.
Deborah regularly acts as jury or speaker in important International Brazilian Film Festivals, such as Gramado, Recife, Curitiba and Kinoforum. At the same time, she teaches a course on documentary production at B_arco (SP).
