Began her career at WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She then worked from 1987 until 1993 as a reporter/news anchor at KHOU-TV in Houston, Texas.
Joined WBBM-TV in Chicago in 1993 as a general assignment reporter. Resigned from WBBM in 1995 to join KPRC-TV as a weekend news anchor. Resigned from KPRC in 1997 to spend time with her family.
In 2004, began working as a freelance correspondent for NBC News and MSNBC. In 2006, was named a full-time correspondent.
