We were recently contacted by filmmaker Michael Sharpe (we don't believe there is any relationship to the classic "Iron" wrestler of the same name) requesting a review for his short film Deviling. After viewing the 15-minute movie, we felt we owed our readers more than a review. We wanted you to see it for yourselves!
The film stars Robert Haulbrook in the lead role of Roland, the lovelorn mortician. Jodi Essex is featured as the object of his desires, Sharlene (and we mustn't forget Tommy Allen Taylor as the corpse!) Haulbrook is amazing, demonstratively illustrating Roland's journey from jilted lover to vengeful psychotic. There is nothing subtle about his performance. He gives you everything he's got. He's creepy and pale with jittery nervous tics and maniacal facial expressions. This is a marvelous performance that has already garnered awards for Haulbrook himself and the film.
