- Served as Minnesota gaming commissioner from 1989 to 1991.
- In 1994 he unsuccessfully sought the Democratic Farmer Labor Party nomination for Governor of Minnesota.
- Holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration (1965) and a Master's Degree in Public Administration (1968) from CUNY-Baruch College.
- Has two sons, Anthony Jr. and Dominick.
