- Bartolomeo Vanzetti was born on June 11, 1888. He died on August 23, 1927.
- An Italian immigrant and anarchist who, with fellow Italian immigrant Nicola Sacco, was tried, convicted and executed in 1927 for the murder of a guard during a payroll robbery. The case achieved notoriety because of the fact that there was no direct evidence connecting the pair to the robbery and the belief that the prosecution was trying them more for their political beliefs than for the robbery and murder--which, as it turned out, they hadn't committed.
