- Lilly Scourtis is a Greek-American filmmaker and television producer born and raised in Los Angeles. After college she landed a job at Quentin Tarantino's production company where she worked on music videos for director McG. Scourtis then pursued her MFA at Columbia University's prestigious Film program in New York City. Her first feature film, "Last Fast Ride - the Life, Love and Death of a Punk Goddess," was a documentary about San Francisco underground punk singer Marian Anderson, who struggled with mental illness and addiction. The film premiered at Slamdance, aired on PBS station KQED and is streaming on Amazon Prime. Scourtis recently directed a 70's horror inspired music video for the song "Bewitched" by Neon Kross. Her films have screened internationally at festivals including Thessaloniki Documentary Film Festival, Newport Beach Film Festival, Montreal Festival of New Cinema, Frameline 35, DocuWest, and Los Angeles International Film Festival. She is primarily interested in female protagonists-troubled girls and girls in trouble, as well as the exploration of female archetypes in storytelling (#filmnerd). Scourtis is a member of Film Fatales and Film Independent.
While at Columbia University, Scourtis Produced a Finalist entry for the Coca-Cola Refreshing Films Competition, Rapunzel Goes to the Movies, and will be serving as a Mentor to future program participants. Scourtis taught Columbia and Barnard undergraduates as Teaching Assistant to world-renowned film critic and author of the "Auteur Theory," Andrew Sarris, and garnered a coveted Preceptor position, instructing Lab in Fiction Filmmaking.
Scourtis has worked in television as Producer, Associate Story Producer and Casting Editor for projects airing on HBO, Oxygen and TLC for production companies including ITV America, 44 Blue and IPC.- IMDb Mini Biography By: L. S.
- Scourtis appeared in Cameron Crowe's film "Almost Famous" as a Waitress in Max's Kansas City and as a Stillwater Fan during the live concert. During college, Scourtis worked at a music retail/video rental store where she enjoyed discovering obscure, independent and foreign films. Her Fellowship job at film school was as a Projectionist. Scourtis' parents were both born in Greece. Scourtis performed with a few different groups in high school and college covering punk, rock and metal songs as well as composing originals.
