Melissa Ciampa
- Producer
- Production Manager
- Actress
As a Los Angeles based Producer of cinema, music and video, Melissa
Ciampa doesn't simply make things happen-she makes them happen
consistently, creatively, economically and expediently. Her track
record is a remarkable demonstration of one woman's capacity to turn
creative ideas and half-baked concepts into marketable ventures and
fully realized projects. In short, she produces.
Melissa's steady climb to Producer status began with her first foothold in the music industry when she worked for Yab-Yum (now Edmonds Entertainment) as the Executive Assistant for Tracy Edmonds. It was there that Melissa developed her proficiency in budgetary matters, handled promotions and labored over the voluminous details involved in the daily operations of running an entertainment company. Melissa's next ascension carried her to Queen Latifah's company, Flava Unit West, where she honed her artist management skills by helping to orchestrate the business affairs of artists like Naughty-by-Nature, Monica, Faith, SWV, OutKast and Total. Following that position, Melissa managed hip-hop and r&b artists Xzibit, Monifah and Koffee Brown. It was then that she executive produced Monifah's album "Mo'hogany" - a million-dollar budget project that soared to gold status. Following the success of that album, Melissa sought to broaden her general knowledge of her profession by undertaking classes on film production at UCLA. Then, to gain hands-on experience, she worked as a Production Coordinator on numerous music videos and was soon elevated to the status of Production Manager. Juggling scheduling logistics and managing crews for music videos was "like shooting a film in two days" she would say as her work proved to be both thrilling and experientially rewarding for the rising young producer.
However, Melissa's experience as a Producer would expand even more so when she was hired by the Sterling Winters Company - a full-service management and production company. During her four year stint with this firm, Melissa worked with super-model and brand spokeswomen Kathy Ireland and Jaclyn Smith where she produced industrial videos, photo shoots, commercials and the like for companies such as K-Mart, Continental Airlines, May Company, Koil Mattress and various LPGA Events. Melissa's indomitable efforts eventually brought her to the "big screen" where she line produced the feature films "On The Come Up"-a documentary revolving around the Source Awards, the Brat, Tyson Beckford, Jermaine Dupree, et al; "Max Havoc: Curse of the Dragon"-shot in Guam, starring Carmen Electra; and "Che Guevara" starring Sonia Braga with international stars, Edwardo Noriega and Enrico La Versa.
Though she was now heavily immersed into the film world, the music business still called upon her. In one year she produced five music videos for RMC, a record company based in Los Angeles, but she would not stop there. Melissa was also a producer on the sold-out stage play the "2006 Los Angeles Vagina Monologues" starring Meredith Baxter, Vanessa Williams, Ananda Lewis, MC Lyte and was hired as a General Manager for Tycoon Entertainment.
