- On board of directors for the Rainbow Room of Rockwall County, TX which raises money for children in need.
- Was a Court Appointed Special Advocate representing foster children in Rockwall County, TX. She gathered information from caseworkers, family members and the children to present opinions to the court.
- Awarded a Texas Gavel Award from the State Bar of Texas in 1995 for writing about the juvenile justice system.
- Built a writing career during the 1990s with eight years as a contributor and columnist for the Rockwall Chronicle. Her work appeared in a number of publications.

- Before the days when computer database systems were commonplace, Groark operated National Telephone Search for Lehman Brothers. She had over 4,500 phone books down in the office and supervised 35 other women. They would research numbers for cold-calling potential clients.

During her 10 years in real estate, Groark was an office manager, an operating broker and owner-manager of a firm. - Before being accepted into the foreign-service program at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., studied foreign language at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. She left the service in 1960 when she married David Groark, a fighter pilot.
- Although born in the United States, she was a one of a handful of non Australians that held an Australian pilot license. Also flew a AT-6 Texan trainer at many air shows.
- Avid scuba diver.
