Petty on track for TNT races
NEW YORK -- NASCAR driver Kyle Petty will join TNT's Nextel Cup series coverage in June and July, including one event where he'll drive and analyze the Sonoma, Calif., race at the same time.
Petty, who is active as a NASCAR driver with his Fargo/Marathon/Tire Kingdom Dodge, will take a five-week break to work for TNT beginning June 10 at the Pocono (Pa.) Raceway. The last scheduled race he'll work for TNT this year will be the Chicagoland Speedway event on July 15.
The son of NASCAR legend Richard Petty will also drive and provide analysis on June 24 live behind the wheel at the Infineon Speedway in Sonoma. He said Wednesday that he's looking forward to multitasking during that race and that he's anything but silent when he races -- even when he's not working on TV.
"I call a lot of races from inside the car," Petty said.
TNT's NASCAR Nextel Cup Series coverage includes play-by-play announcer Bill Weber and analyst Wally Dallenbach.
