- Sound Department
Cameron Naylor is a sound artist creating on the boundary of electroacoustic composition and audiovisual art. Living and working in Manchester, England his work explores the affective capabilities of sound and music, through an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach that refracts this relationship through a multitude of mediums.
In the last five years, Naylor has composed work for film, radio and theatre, as well as creating for both digital and in-person concert and installation settings. During this time, he has interrogated his process and practice at every turn, working in collaboration with directors, curators, poets, and playwrights to engage audiences in new and experimental ways.
From synthesising sound worlds with data sonification to creating procedural graphics and augmented reality audio dramas, to utilising generative composition, Cameron's innovative viewpoint has allowed him to work consistently for both local and international organisations. His pieces have been performed and exhibited from the John Rylands Library, The Manchester Central Library, and The Leeds City Museum in the UK, to the docks of Aarhus and the streets of Barcelona.
Ever curious, Cameron continues to advance his study of sound at Novars Research Centre, where he is undertaking a PhD about the intersection of sound art and heritage venues.
