- Zubaida Khanum migrated with her family to Pakistan after the Partition of India in 1947. Her talent for singing was spotted at school by her teacher, who put her in touch with Radio Pakistan. Despite her family objecting to a career in music, she performed her first song in Punjabi in film "Billo (1951)". She also sang in Urdu language during her career.
- She recorded over 250 songs during her career. She became highly popular for her melodious voice in playback singing, pre-recorded for use in films. She sang some 250 songs in 147 movies.
