David Kamel
- Writer
David Kamel was born and raised in Texas and graduated from the University of North Texas. As a young teenage, he became immersed in watching reruns of the TV series, The Untouchables, staring Robert Stack. This set in motion his inspiration to apply for an FBI Special Agent position. He was selected in 1988. After a 31 year career, including 18 years on the FBI SWAT team, successful white collar crime and counter terrorism investigations and wealthy undercover roles, friends and acquaintances encouraged him to write his compelling memoir Reckonings of an FBI Agent. Humorous at times, he dives into his mastery of subject interviews leading to guilty pleas and trial convictions in every one of his cases. He was a recipient of the 2010 United States Attorney General's Distinguished Service Award. His memoir, including two book signings to date, has become a superb success.
He was interviewed on Jerri Williams True Crime Case Reviews Podcast (#273 tale of two investment frauds) , which can be found on Jerri Williams Podcast.
With a great appreciation for both fine and classic automobiles, his 1951 Packard convertible has been featured in movies, commercials and an episode of Pawn Stars.
He is an avid reader of numerous WW 2 memoirs, written by American, German, British, Russian and Belgian soldiers and considers his knowledge of WW 2 history remarkable.
