Made major league debut on 12 September 1941.
Last surviving member of the 1945 Chicago Cubs, the last Cubs team to appear in a World Series until 2016.
Inducted into the Cape Cod Baseball League Hall of Fame in 2001 (inaugural class).
Following his playing career, he was a scout for Chicago Cubs for 25 years.
