- On October 11, 1973 at about 9:00 pm, Charles Hickson and 19-year-old Calvin Parker were fishing off the west bank of the Pascagoula River near a pier at Shaupeter Shipyard in Pascagoula, Mississippi when claimed they were abducted by aliens. This has been known as the Pascagoula Abduction by those who study UFO abductions. Hickson wrote a book about the experience titled "UFO Contact at Pascagoula" in 1983.
