TOKYO -- TIFFCOM 2005, the film market held in conjunction with the Tokyo International Film Festival, wrapped here Friday on an upbeat note, as organizers claimed "a clear improvement" over last year's inaugural event. The number of selling booths reached 100, compared to last year's 83. "We estimate that we had around 2,500 visitors on the first day," said Tadahiro Shimizu, director of TIFFCOM 2005. "That's a reasonable figure, although of course we're not satisfied and the goal that we are already setting ourselves for next year is much higher." Shimizu admitted that promoting the market this year has been "more difficult" due to its proximity to just-concluded TV market MIPCOM and the upcoming American Film Market in Santa Monica.
