- Luke Tinson was born in Bristol, England. He grew up in southwest UK, attending Penair School in Truro, Cornwall, before moving to London at age 17. He studied theatre at John Ruskin High School with the prize-winning screenwriter Allan Cubitt, and performed regularly at the Croydon Youth Theatre Organisation.
After graduating in theatre at Dartington College of Arts, Devon, he moved to France in 1996. There, having continued his training with Ron Burrus and at the Acting Lab Studio in Toulouse, he works as an actor and musician.
Under the name Luke Askance he has made regular appearances on the French slam poetry scene, and he sings and plays banjo in the post-punk band Skin and Wire.
