E.S. Posthumus is a band of two brothers, Helmut and Franz Vonlichten.
Both were born and raised in Los Angeles, California and learned how to
play the piano with their mother. After graduating from high school,
Franz began working in some recording studios, while Helmut studied
Archaeology at UCLA and then graduated.
Helmut and Franz formed E.S. Posthumus in 2000 deciding that the E.S. would stand for "Experimental Sounds" and Posthumus would mean "all things past." Their music well adheres to this philosophy and contains elements of cultural electronica. E.S. Posthumus is often referred to as an "Indie" group.
Their first album, Unearthed, went on sale in January 2001 and became an instant success. Impressed, cinematic developers rushed to license their music which can now be heard in a long list of motion picture trailers as well as a few television themes.
The very wide fan base of E.S. Posthumus hopes that this band will continue to move forward, and predicts that they might well become the leading composers of their time.
