From the very first episode of The Boys, it seemed clear that the series would not be a direct adaptation of the controversial comic book by Garth Ennis, and as the show progressed, we began to see more significant deviations from the source material.
One of the biggest changes involved silent Seven member Black Noir.
Spoilers follow.
In the final issue of the comic, we learn that Noir has actually been a clone of Homelander all along, and was responsible for committing the leader of the Seven's most heinous crimes. Showrunner Eric Kripke was asked if he ever considered sticking to the comics for this particular twist during an interview with Variety.
"No, and I don’t mind saying it. In the comics he’s a clone of Homelander this entire time and is actually the one doing all these horrific things. And again, it’s a hell of a twist.

Prime Video's "The Boys" was originally a comic book series co-created by writer Garth Ennis and artist Darick Robertson. In both versions, the Boys are a five-person operator squad dedicated to taking down superheroes who, when they're off-camera, are not paragons of justice. "Supes" have all the normal human capacity for depravity, but with superpowers and the absence of accountability typical of celebrities, you get wrathful, apathetic screw-ups who think they're gods. The Boys are there to remind them they're only human. Ennis put this thesis as such:
"My own take on superheroes is that if they really existed they'd be between movie stars and politicians. They'd be movie stars because they'd be glamorous and fabulous looking and the people would follow their lives exactly as if they were reading fictional adventures. But they'd be like politicians because they'd have a genuine and tangible effect on our lives and our world.

The Boys is one of the most popular superhero series in the world, and its fourth season premiered on June 13, 2024, with the first three episodes. The season has been Certified Fresh so far, although the fan reactions are quite different for this season, which we have already reported on. The series has introduced many new concepts and novelties in this season, one of which is the increase in political messages in the story, which has not been welcomed by all fans. In a recent interview, showrunner Eric Kripke commented on one aspect of these political messages The Boys Season 4, and we will reveal what he said.

Season 4 of The Boys just landed in a hot soup with a flood of negative reviews. The social satire that has long relied on Karl Urban’s Bucther-led group’s quest to oust the superpowered group of Homelander, seems to have let loose its underlying subtlety as it goes full aboard with political commentary mimicking real life, likely shooting itself in the foot because of it.

The penultimate season opened with Antony Starr’s supe facing an existential crisis and dealing with his realization that he cannot bend the world according to will just yet. Moreover, his insistence on crafting a new societal order with him and his kind of genetically superior beings being on top and humans reduced to “toys for our amusement,” has led him to seek dire measures such as recruiting new faces and stirring public sentiments.

The Boys has always served up plenty of sociopolitical commentary/satire with its outrageous violence and debauchery, but season 4 definitely seems to have leaned a little more into paralleling real-world events, and there is a perception that the show has become a more scathing take-down of the far right than it ever was before.
This is certainly debatable (season 2 introduced a literal Nazi as a member of The Seven), but there's no getting around the fact that one character, in particular, seems to be directly inspired by certain conspiracy theory-spouting individuals who make regular appearances on Fox News.
While chatting to Variety, showrunner Eric Kripke confirmed that the idea behind introducing Firecracker came from: "Hey, isn’t Marjorie Taylor Greene scary?”

Much has been said in recent weeks about The Acolyte potentially being review-bombed. As we write this, Disney+'s latest Star Wars TV series boasts a 14% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes, a stark contrast to its 84% Critics Score.
Now, there are concerns among fans of The Boys that it too is being targeted by unhappy viewers. Season 4 is "Certified Fresh" at 95%, but has slipped to an all-time low 50% Audience Score following last week's three-episode premiere.
For context, The Boys season 1 has 85%/95%, season 2 sits at 97%/83%, and season 3 is currently at 98%/75%.
The Audience Score has gradually declined from year to year, so interest may have begun to decrease as viewers grow tired of the series and its premise. After all, the news The Boys will end with season 5 received a surprisingly positive response, at least in part due to it feeling like the show has been treading water in recent years.

The Boys: Firecracker Took A Dig at Starlight's Buried Past and Struck Gold - Main Image
Is Starlight good or bad in The Boys? Firecracker just revealed a dark secret that Annie January had almost forgotten all these years, and it threatens to end the supe's career as she knows it.
As the rivalry is both personal and professional, fans are being led to believe Starlight might not be the good supe she made herself out to be.
Starlight's Past with Firecracker Came Back to Haunt Her
While being confronted by Starlight on joining The Seven, Firecracker spilled more tea than we were prepared: apparently, she and Annie knew each other as teens, where they both competed in the same beauty pageants.
Back then, the 13-year-old Firecracker was known as Sparkler and won with a God Bless America medley routine, much to Starlight's chagrin. In retaliation, we're told, Annie...

Amazon Prime’s The Boys is perhaps best known for its extremely gory scenes which leave the audience staring at the screen, shell-shocked. While the scenes were absolutely unbearable for first-time viewers, fans have eventually gotten used to them and actually look forward to seeing just how much worse it can get. One of the biggest reasons why our eyes keep bulging out of our skulls is none other than Antony Starr’s Homelander, the most unhinged character to have graced the television industry.

Airing its first season back in 2019, The Boys has come a long way as its fourth and penultimate season debuted a little more than a week ago. The current season has brought with itself a plot that no longer tries to be subtle as the politically charged narrative in-universe starkly mirrored some of the most recent developments in America.
To thrust forward that storyline is Antony Starr’s Homelander, who after facing a multitude of scenarios regarding his very existence, has turned to seeking help.

The Boys is one of the most popular superhero series in the world. The twisted take on the superhero genre, adapted from the comic book of the same name, became a major hit for Amazon Prime and a series that has pushed the boundaries of what can be shown on TV in more ways than one. After three successful seasons and a spin-off series, the fourth season of The Boys finally premiered on June 13, 2024, with the first three episodes. The initial reactions were lukewarm, but the series has been picking up the pace and is now Certified Fresh with high ratings as well. But, The Boys wouldn’t be The Boys were it not for some controversies.

Eric Kripke unpacked everything that went into that butthole scene from “The Boys” Season 4 premiere, detailing the role he played in choosing the perfect back shot and Claudia Doumit’s reaction.
“The Boys” wouldn’t be “The Boys” without something absolutely outrageous happening at every turn, even if it’s the very first episode of the season. For those who need a reminder, Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and Victoria Neuman (Doumit) made an agreement that she’d break Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) away from Homelander (Antony Starr) and, in exchange, Butcher would retrieve the damning files Hughie (Jack Quaid) has on her that prove she’s a murderous supe in hiding.
Towards the end of the episode, fans see Butcher struggling to decide if he’ll betray Hughie or keep his promise to Victoria. Luckily, Butcher chooses to ride with his Boys instead. However, Victoria doesn’t know that and is...

The Boys has frequently touched on some pretty heavy themes, but it's become increasingly political - with undeniable real-world parallels - in recent seasons.
That's alienated some viewers and season 4 doesn't hold back on poking fun at certain segments of society. Talking to Variety, showrunner Eric Kripke acknowledged that head-on, admitting that, "One big theme is this election."
"It’s kind of where the season’s storyline was heading based on Season 3," he added. "We have this hidden homicidal superhero a heartbeat from the White House. As you do. When we first pitched the show, it was before Trump was elected."
"And the idea that a celebrity would actively want to turn themselves into a fascist autocrat was kind of a crazy idea. I mean, it still is. But it turned out to have happened?" Kripke continued. "We sort of lucked into a show whose metaphor is really about the moment we’re living in,...

Spoiler Alert!Spoiler Alert: 'The Boys' Season 4 Spoilers Ahead!
For a television series existing in the same time and universe as Gen V, The Boys is effortlessly one of the most loved shows of all time, with every new season bringing about a new set of twists and turns for the crew. But this latest season of the saga, i.e. season 4 hasn’t been all too kind to the characters; especially one in particular: Butcher.

The Boys have never been shy about mocking the political climate of the time through its satiric representation of its heroes and their ideologies. Throughout its various seasons, Eric Kripke and the team have cleverly poked fun at pop culture and the world that we live in, and season 4 doubles on how hard it goes with its satire.

The Boys Hits An All-Time Low On Rotten Tomatoes – But There's More To This Story Than Meets The Eye

Based on the 2006 comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, the hit TV series "The Boys" is a wicked, playfully mean-spirited satire of the highest order. It debuted in 2019, right when the Marvel Cinematic Universe was climaxing in popularity, and takes place in a universe where superheroes are real ... and are already deeply corrupted by their power. All heroes, presented as selfish egotistical celebrities, are overseen by a publicity firm called Vought International that wrangles their public image and raked in billions from merchandising.
The central figure of "The Boys" is the Superman-like character Homelander (Antony Starr), a villainous egotist who hates humanity and can barely contain his contempt as he treks out into the world to "do good deeds." Homelander does indeed kill bad guys and terrorists, but just as often cruelly murders or harms others to fit his own nefarious ends. He's abusive and evil. He's not a good guy.

It won’t be too far-fetched to call Homelander one of the best villains when it comes to TV, and much of the credit goes to Antony Starr’s performance as the acclaimed antagonist. While Starr has been impeccable throughout the series, no other scene captures his versatility as an actor more than episode 6 of season 3, Herogasm, which could easily rival Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin.
For this episode, his experience in Outrageous Fortune came in handy, as it required him to play dwell roles, which he did brilliantly back in the drama series.

Two days before Season 4 of “The Boys” premiered on June 13, showrunner Eric Kripke announced on social media that the upcoming fifth season of the Prime Video series for Amazon will be its last. Kripke hedged on the question when asked about it for this interview, which took place a few weeks before his announcement; but he did state clearly that he doesn’t want “The Boys” ever to be “turning into the thing that we’re parodying” — that is, an endless stream of superhero content that has flooded pop culture for years.
“It’d be a huge bummer if of all shows, this is the show that sells out,” Kripke said, “so I’m going to try.”
Of course, the end of “The Boys” next season won’t mean the end of the whole universe around the show, which is based on the comics series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.

Homelander from the Prime Video series The Boys is probably one of the most compelling and, at the same time, terrifying anti-heroes in TV series these days. The character is a black mirror image of the traditional superhero type, donning charisma and power with a chilling disregard for human life. And that’s exactly what makes him so iconic. To better understand Homelander, we’ll first meet the actor behind the character who gave him life. Then, we’ll learn about the source of the character’s incredible powers, the reasons for his sinister nature, and his fate in the comic books. So, ready...

The cast of Amazon Prime’s The Boys is known to have one of the best chemistry of all time. Often joking and having fun, fans love the romance that exists between the cast in each and every one of their public appearances. As a result, even though season 4 of the show has failed to entice viewers, the promotions are being well-loved by fans.

Similar to its previous installments, The Boys season 4 has opened to a stellar critic score at the Tomatometer, as it’s currently sitting on a comfortable 95% with three episodes in. However, the audience score paints a different picture, as it registers the series’ first rotten audience score with 52%, which is a result of review-bombing from fans, who are stressing the show has gone woke.

The first three episodes of the new season of The Boys have been released on Amazon Prime. In them, Butcher and his team do not give up their attempts to kill the most corrupted Supe on Earth – Homelander.
Showrunner Eric Kripke has already stated that the fifth season will be the last. This means that the stakes for The Boys are higher than ever. The problem is that it does not feel that way.
Season 4 Falls to Season 1 Level of Conflict
On the one hand, we are once again treated to cunning intrigues that make the show more cynical. We are reminded of how the media manipulates the public and uses ordinary people as pawns to further its own interests.

9 out of 10 times, actors often tend to be poles apart from the characters they portray onscreen, and they certainly don’t identify with whoever’s shoes they’re stepping into. After all, Robert Pattinson detests Edward Cullen, and Penn Badgley isn’t going around in Joe’s telltale black cap and stalking women. And well, Antony Starr is no exception.

Unlike some fans who have ended up idolizing the erratic and violent Homelander, Starr – the actor who plays the vicious supe – is nowhere near supportive of the character, least of all his bizarre and creepy habits. If anything, the New Zealand-born actor is repulsed by it all.
Antony Starr Can’t Handle Homelander’s Revolting Habits in Real Life
Eric Kripke’s The Boys is frequently hailed for its stellar satire of politics wrought by corruption and the ludicrous pedestal on which people place pop culture.

Homelander is arguably one of the worst, most spine-chillingly odious superheros in pop culture history. Antony Starr’s rendition of the character, however? Chef’s kiss.
After three gory seasons of supes wreaking havoc, The Boys is back with a fresh batch of satire-flavored violent drama in the form of season 4, and the infamous Homelander is more evil than ever.

Honestly, it’s a shame that Starr hasn’t been graced with an Emmy for his phenomenal portrayal of the character yet. The Boys showrunner thinks so, too, and you know he’s worth it when the creator himself is vouching for it.
Eric Kripke – Antony Starr Deserves An Emmy For Homelander
Nobody deserves an Emmy Award more than Antony Starr for his horrifically electrifying performance as the villainous superhero Homelander. And nobody is more supportive of the cause than the show’s creator.

Deadpool is easily ranked as one of the most famously fan-beloved characters from Marvel Comics, and Ryan Reynolds’ excellent portrayal of him for the big screen has further elevated his status.
As fans already know, this incredible fame continues to grow for this respective anti-hero all the more with his upcoming movie showing him teaming up with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.

This comes after filmmaker Shawn Levy recently expressed his heartiest wishes regarding this, which would sound like uplifting comments to all those fans out there who were desperately awaiting this team-up!

The Boys has always pushed the boundaries of what sort of outrageous acts can be depicted on-screen, and we have seen all manner of brutality and debauchery over the course of three seasons.
Showrunner Eric Kripke has previously said that he was basically given free rein to include anything he wanted in the show, but there was one thing that gave Amazon pause - and it probably won't be what you're expecting.
Of all the things we've witnessed over the past few years, it was The Deep's interspecies relationship with an octopus in season 3's "Herogasm" episode that prompted Prime Video execs to ask Kripke to tone down as it tested the streamer's policy on depictions of bestiality.
"Funny enough, the only thing they said to me all season was - and we weren't going to do it anyway - was 'Can you just, maybe, not have The Deep f...

Does Homelander Actually Need The Seven? The Supe Sets The Record Straight - Main Image
With his superhuman abilities, it’s no wonder Homelander followers are curious whether he plans to go solo anytime soon.
In his Reddit Ask Me Anything session, he sets the record straight after a user inquired if there is a need for him to team up with other Supes:
“The Seven’s not just a team, it’s a family. And I may sit at the head of the table, but... look, even Jesus had disciples.”
While this may sound like a made-up response by Vought’s PR team, fans would remember that Homelander often refers to The Seven as “the family that I never got,” having been raised as an experiment by Dr. Jonah Vogelbaum and his associates.
More accurately, he sees The Seven as an extension of himself and must always appear like gods on earth: ever-competent,...

The first three episodes of The Boys season 4 are now streaming, and Prime Video has released a new promo for the fourth instalment, which arrives this Thursday.
In "Wisdom of the Ages," Homelander decides that he needs to completely purge whatever is left of his humanity and desire to be loved by returning to the place he "grew up" and playing some increasingly dangerous games with the scientists who were tasked with testing his abilities many years prior.
The episode will also see new Seven recruit Firecracker continue her campaign to discredit Annie January, but in doing so, the Supe pushes the former member of The Seven too far by revealing some details about her past, and must face a rage-fuelled Starlight.
Billy Butcher must also decide how far he's willing to go to get Ryan away from his father, and whether he'll listen to his old friend's advice to...

This post contains spoilers for "The Boys."
There's a reason why "The Boys" keeps Antony Starr's Homelander around while crafting some of its most significant and compelling storylines. One of the most unpredictably dangerous Supes manufactured by Vought, Homelander's presence provides impetus to the titular "Boys" to keep playing such a rigged game, as killing the milk-drinking Supe is a part of the show's endgame. Starr has elevated Homelander into a figure mired in complexities; he imparts the character with a singular brand of desperation-fueled evil that only becomes more twisted with each passing season. Starr's turn as Homelander cements the character's idiosyncratic presence within the "Boys" universe, where almost every iteration of the Supe benefits from the actor's remarkably layered and scene-stealing performance.
Keeping this in mind, it is no surprise that Starr voiced Homelander both in the animated anthology series "The Boys Presents: Diabolical" and the "Call of Duty" games,...

As with every season, fans of The Boys were eagerly anticipating the return of their favorite show to Prime Video. Judging by the way it was promoted and the way the story built up to Homelander and Billy Butcher's final epic battle, it felt like there was a lot to look forward to. However, it appears the critically beloved season fell flat with viewers.
With a 95% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes and only a 53% audience score, The Boys season 4 is breaking all the worst records when it comes to release success. And while some are genuinely shocked by the drop in quality, others believe it was a long time coming.

The highly anticipated season 4 of the superhero TV series The Boys is finally here, bringing Billy Butcher and his crew back to confront corrupt superheroes. While the show has received positive reviews and has made an impactful entry, certain scenes have sparked fan scrutiny over the narrative of upcoming episodes.

We've encountered our share of assholes over the course of three seasons of The Boys, but the recent season 4 premiere took things to a literal new level!
Initially hoping to strike a deal with VP-elect Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit) to get Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) away from Homelander (Antony Starr) in exchange for the footage of her popping heads, Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) ultimately changes his mind and lets Miss Neuman known in typically Butcher fashion by sending her a photo of a man's butt.
Responding to a fan on Twitter, showrunner Eric Kripke revealed that Doumit's reaction to the photo was the real deal.
"This was Claudia's real reaction at seeing the picture for the first time. All authentic."
"Because hundreds of you asked: the butthole from #TheBoys Season 4, Ep 1 is Not Butcher's (or Karl's)," he added in a follow-up post. "We hired a model (I don't know his name). I chose the pic,...

Season 4 of The Boys debuted after a long wait and previewed its most grim outlook yet. In just the first three episodes, the outing has managed to win back fans with its outrageousness and dark comedy that has become its hallmark for quite some time. Additionally, it also picked up right after the events of season three and completely new dynamics between pivotal characters stood to welcome viewers.
However, it looks like not only the showrunners but also the streaming service has leveled up this season and is on the path to dominating the era of streaming.

Amazon’s The Boys has captured the pop culture zeitgeist currently and is one of the most popular shows in the world. Amidst the discourse of superhero fatigue, this particular superhero show continues to exceed expectations and push boundaries with its realistic take on superheroes in a politically divided world.

Prime Video’s favorite show is back and it is bigger, better, and badder than ever. The Boys is currently in its fourth season with three episodes out so far and the reviews are in favor of the show. Throughout the seasons, the cast has spent plenty of time with each other but the question is, do they really know each other as well as one would hope?

Eric Kripke’s The Boys has been entertaining its audience since 2019 with superior and audacious storytelling. Right from its first season, the show has been making its audience gasp out loud with its bold and gory visuals while also making some political mockery. The show is notorious for taking a satirical approach to the whole superhero genre, flipping the heroic narrative that is celebrated by Marvel and DC.

Eric Kripke’s The Boys is back with its bizarre take on superheroes for the fourth time. Despite many complaints about its slow burn treatment in the first three episodes, Season 4 has its share of strong performances and dark storylines like the last 3 seasons. Nevertheless, one scene from Episode 3 stood out for sharing an uncanny resemblance to Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man.

The Boys season 4 enlisted Tilda Swinton to voice The Deep's octopus lover Ambrosias (more here), but the second episode, "Life Among the Septics," also featured an on-screen cameo from another A-list star.
The episode begins with A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) filming a scene for one of Vought's highly fictionalized superhero origin movies, which is a clear parody of The Blind Side starring Sandra Bullock. This time, the coach who won't give up on the young speedster and refuses to let him throw a promising future away by becoming a drug dealer is played by none other than Will Ferrell.
While chatting to Collider, showrunner Eric Kripke revealed that he's wanted to work with the SNL alum for quite a while, and felt he'd be perfect for the "massive A-list star" they still hadn't cast in the role of Coach Brink.

Whoever said actions speak louder than words is clearly oblivious to Hideo Kojima’s taciturn reviews.

There are few characters on "The Boys" who could be considered morally upright, but Homelander (Antony Starr) stands out for his sadistic viciousness, even in a world filled with amoral and apathetic superheroes who are more interested in abusing their powers than saving the day. Although he's viewed by many in-universe fans as the golden boy of The Seven, the world's most elite group of superheroes, his all-American persona obscures a much darker presence.
But if there's one thing you can say for Homelander, there's never a dull moment when he's around. His instability makes him unpredictable in the extreme, sometimes committing vile acts that require some forethought and other times letting impulses of the moment guide his dark desires. Whether Homelander is manipulating other characters, outright attacking them, or participating in a little light terrorism during his off-hours, the sociopathic Supe is pretty much guaranteed to be spearheading some...

If there is one piece of advice that can be given to someone getting into the world of The Boys, it would be to expect the unexpected. Fans are used to constantly being surprised by the information thrown at them, so they do not sit and ponder when their entire reality is shifted.
Spoiler Alert! This article contains spoilers for the fourth season of The Boys.
The fourth season is not different in this, adding surprising plots like Hughie meeting his mother after years, Frenchie being involved with someone whom he orphaned, and the Deep having two new love interests, one of which is a squid.

However, every now and then, the series does a reveal that surprises fans in a way that shatters everything they thought they knew about the character. In the third season, they revealed Soldier Boy to be Homelander’s father.

Erin Moriarty is The Boys' lead female character and has, as a result, become the target of online trolls. Much has been said about her appearance as the show has continued, including claims of plastic surgery and a consensus among mostly male fans that she's "ruined" her face.
The actress has denied having any work done, though only after the social media accusations reached a mainstream audience when Megyn Kelly decided to chime in.
"For a few months, I thought my career was over," Moriarty told The New York Times of the understandably scathing response she issued in January shortly before leaving social media. "Because there was so much attention brought to something that I was told never to address."
"I had left it on a note where I’d explicitly said that I had been heartbroken by the comments," she added. "Now, I’m not heartbroken. I’m galvanized.

The Boys has been entertaining and shocking audiences with its audacious and bold storytelling with its first season in 2019. Unlike Marvel and DC, Amazon gave Eric Kripke free rein to show some outrageous gory visuals while also making some creative political satire. Irrespective of all these, the characters and the narrative are also intriguing and carry the show.

The first three episodes of The Boys season 4 are now streaming on Prime Video, and the premiere sees the return of The Deep's (Chase Crawford) octopus lover, Ambrosius.
There's a sentence we never expected to type, but he's a... unique fella is our Kevin.
First introduced in season 3's debauched "Herogasm" episode, Ambrosius has been living in secret in Deep's apartment at Vought Tower. The Lord of the Seven Seas' superpowers allow him to communicate with his cephalopod significant other, and if you thought she sounded familiar, it's because showrunner Eric Kripke enlisted an A-list actor to voice the character: Tilda Swinton.
"Once we decided we were going to have Deep have regular conversation with his octopus wife, we just wanted the biggest, classiest British Oscar-winning actress we could possibly find," Kripke tells EW. "That's a reasonably short list. We didn't know Tilda. It's not like some of our other...

The X-Men is one of the biggest franchises ever, and for a long time, they have been a fan-favorite mutant group featuring Professor X and his gifted children, with several popular films and comic books that add to its popularity. While the mutant franchise is known for showcasing high-octane battles with a gripping storyline; they are equally proficient in presenting emotionally affecting sagas that would move one to tears.
