- Home Guard Volunteer Robin 'Donovan' Maule was only 17 years old when he died. Although underage he had been allowed to join the local Home Guard and was made Battalion Despatch Rider. It was whilst performing duties in December 1941 that he had a serious crash and he died, three months later, from the injuries he sustained.
- He met with a serious accident in December 1941. He had apparently made a wonderful recovery and was discharged from hospital in Oxford only the day before his sad and unexpected end.
- He was in "Dancing Years" with Ivor Novello and " Good-Bye Mr. Chips" and was in a film version of the latter at the outbreak of war.
- From the age of 12 until the outbreak of war he had been engaged almost continually with the stage, the films or with the B.B.C.
