Shirley was an early pioneer in Public Television, and co-founded KCET in Los Angeles, where she served as a board member for more than 60 years.
The Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream store chain was formed as a joint venture between Shirley's brother, Irv Robbins, and her husband, Burton Baskin. She helped with the company's expansion during its formative years.
