Belinda Lopez is a documentary (audio) maker, journalist, writer and researcher. Her work has been shortlisted for the Australian/Vogel's Literary Award, the Australian Human Rights Awards and Amnesty Media Awards, and awarded prizes from the United Nations and the New York Festivals.
As an executive producer, editorial advisor and story consultant, she has worked on film and audio documentaries broadcast by the ABC, The Guardian, National Indigenous Television (NITV) and other outlets, recognized by the Walkley Awards, Amnesty International media awards and NSW Premier's History Awards, among several commendations.
Her poetry, essays, articles and documentaries have been published and broadcast in Australia and internationally, exploring themes such as history, feminism, Hispanic and Latino cultures, our relationship with the internet, as well as storytelling with First Nations communities.
She holds a PhD from Macquarie University, based on anthropological and historical research with West Papuan communities in Indonesia.
