Hot Water Music have dropped two new songs: “Remnants” featuring Brendan Yates and Daniel Fang of Turnstile, and “Fences” featuring fellow post-hardcore vets Thrice.
The singles hail from Hot Water Music’s guest-filled new album Vows, which is out May 10th.
The front half of the double-single drop, “Remnants,” is a full circle moment, as Turnstile took their band name from a 1997 Hot Water Music track. The new song is based on a funky rhythmic workout and frontman Chuck Ragan’s grizzled, yet hyper melodic vocals. The Turnstile contribution features Yates on supplemental vocals and Fang on additional percussion.
“‘Remnants’ is a song of friendship and what it means to be a true friend to a person dear to us even through the toughest times of our lives,” stated Hot Water Music in their press release. “These values are based on whether or not we choose to be present for...

Turnstile and Badbadnotgood have surprise released a collaborative EP titled New Heart Designs.
The three-song EP includes re-imaginings of tracks from Turnstile’s acclaimed 2021 album Glow On: “Mystery,” “Alien Love Call” (featuring Blood Orange), and “Underwater Boi.” Along with the EP’s release, Turnstile have shared a companion video containing all three songs that was shot and edited by Alex Henery.
Sonically, the tracks are mostly based on Badbadnotgood’s interpretation of the arrangements. The big chords and slam-dance inducing rhythms of the originals are replaced with lush jazz instrumentation — per Badbadnotgood’s general M.O. — with the vocals of Turnstile’s Brendan Yates layered on top.
Far from mere remixes, these takes almost sound like entirely different songs, and they should appeal to fans of either band.
Meanwhile, Turnstile have a series of UK/European shows and festival appearances on the horizon, followed by US festival slots at Riot Fest,...

Turnstile have become the face of the Baltimore hardcore scene, and the band got to celebrate its city on Tuesday (August 8th) by throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at the Orioles game.
Ahead of the O’s matchup against the Houston Astros, Turnstile took the mound, with guitarist Pat McCrory making the pitch to The Oriole Bird. In the words of the legendary Bob Uecker, McCrory’s toss was “just a bit outside,” bouncing out of the mascot’s reach in the left-handed batter’s box.
Wild pitch aside, the band looked like they had a ton of fun at Camden Yards, posing with The Oriole Bird and even filming a video segment with O’s field reporter Melanie Newman.
It was also a wholesome moment and some much-needed positive PR for the Orioles, who faced major backlash this past week from the sports broadcasting world.

Baltimore natives Turnstile repped their hometown in a big way on Tuesday night. At the Baltimore Orioles game against the Houston Astros, the band took the mound to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Backed by his bandmates Brendan Yates, Franz Lyons, and Daniel Fang, Pat McCrory did the honors of pitching the ball.
“Their season right now is inspiring some songs,” McCrory told broadcaster Melanie Newman when asked in a pre-pitch interview what they would write in a song about the Orioles. Lyons...

Rising NYC act Oxymorrons have announced their debut full-length album, Melanin Punk, arriving October 20th via Mascot Records. The new song and third single “Graveyard Words” is out now.
Citing influences such as Turnstile and Kid Cudi, Oxymorrons have burst onto the scene with a genre-defying blend of hip-hop, alt-rock, and punk — as heard on “Graveyard Words.” This particular track leans more toward the Turnstile comparison, with hooks and lyrics unfolding at a torrid pace.
“It’s about speaking with intentions,” Oxymorrons remarked in a collective statement on the track. “Words carry weight and you can manifest positivity but also negativity with the things you say – on the extreme side of the spectrum it could cost you your life. It’s about the laws of attraction through words. The chorus sounds like a threat coming from an individual — like ‘yo watch yer mouth or I’ll f*ck you up...

Baltimore hardcore act Angel Du$t have returned with a new double single “Very Aggressive” / “Love Slam” — their first new music since 2021.
With lead singer Justice Tripp as the centerpiece, Angel Du$t have functioned as a Baltimore hardcore collective of sorts. Most notably, Turnstile’s Daniel Fang, Pat McCrory, and Brendan Yates have been members of the band. On the new songs, Fang shares drums/percussion duties with Thomas Cantwell alongside Daniel Star on guitar, Steve Marino on bass, and Tripp on guitar/vocals.
The single’s A-side, “Very Aggressive,” features guest vocals from Citizen’s Mat Kerekes and is somewhat misleading in nomenclature. While the breakneck tempo, chugging bass line, and Wipers-esque chord voicing are rooted in the more aggro field of punk, Tripp’s knack for melody shines through in the arrangement and anthemic quality of the track, which verges on garage-y power pop.
