- Expert hula dancer; in her teens, she appeared in ads promoting Hawaii as a tourist attraction from the Hawaii Tourist Bureau and the Matson Lines; she always appeared with a red hibiscus in her hair. She was on Broadway in "Hellzapoppin'" and as part of the floor show in the Hawaiian Room at the Hotel Lexington in midtown Manhattan in the late 1930s; moved to Florida after the end of World War II but was active as a hula dancer and teacher well into her 80s.
- Became the iconic face of Hawaii's newly-born tourism advertising campaign of the 1930's. She was featured in all adds with a hula skirt and a flower in her hair.
