Wellington, Aug 28 (Ians) Jimmy Neesham will no longer join the Black Caps T20 squad to face England following the conclusion of The Hundred and will instead return to New Zealand early to be with his wife ahead of the birth of their first child.
Neesham was due to head to home after the series but a decision has been made for him to return early.
Canterbury’s Cole McConchie was due to travel home following the warm-up matches in England but will now stay on with the squad in England for the duration of the T20 Series.
Black Caps coach Gary Stead said it was important to be flexible at these times.
“We fully support Jimmy’s decision to return home early to be with Alex.”
“The birth of a child is a special time and we are a family environment. We are glad to be able to support Jimmy in heading home.

New Delhi, June 8 (Ians) New Zealand speedster Trent Boult committed to being available for the national team for part of the playing programme despite declining a central contract and therefore has been offered a casual playing agreement.
In August of last year, Boult and New Zealand reached an agreement to mutually release his central contract. This arrangement granted the 33-year-old the opportunity to participate in different domestic leagues worldwide and prioritise spending quality time with his family.
“Boult, while again declining a central contract, has committed to being available for the BlackCaps for part of the playing programme and, on that basis, has been offered a casual playing agreement,” New Zealand Cricket said in a release.
With Boult turning out for the national team, it looks highly likely he will represent New Zealand at this year’s Icc Cricket World Cup in India, starting from October 5.
“We’re having positive conversations with Trent.

Auckland, June 8 (Ians) Fast-bowler Adam Milne has been offered a New Zealand Cricket (Nzc) central contract for the first time in five years.
Milne’s elevation to the list comes off the back of his most productive international season, in which he appeared 16 times for the Black Caps (11 T20Is and five ODIs) claiming 24 wickets at an average of 24, including a career-best 5-26 in the second T20I against Sri Lanka, the third best T20I figures by a New Zealander.
The 31-year-old, who made his international debut in 2010, was part of the Black Caps’ past two Icc T20 World Cup campaigns.
Coach Gary Stead said Milne’s offer of a central contract was well-deserved and reflected his strong and ongoing commitment to play international cricket for New Zealand, the New Zealand Cricket said in a report on its website on Thursday.

Kolkata, April 6 (Ians) Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to bowl first against Kolkata Knight Riders in an Ipl 2023 match at Eden Gardens, here on Thursday.
The match, which Kolkata are playing a home game for the first time after 2019, also marks Sunil Narine’s 150th Ipl game, with Andre Russell completing a century of appearances in the tournament.
Kolkata come into their first home game of Ipl 2023 on the back of a seven-run loss to Punjab Kings in a rain-hit game, while Bangalore arrive after beating Mumbai Indians by eight wickets.
After winning the toss, Du Plessis said England’s left-arm pace all-rounder David Willey came in for Reece Topley, who suffered a right shoulder dislocation while fielding.
“There was dew last night. Hoping it will get skiddy in the second innings. Reaching the playoffs is a long way away. Today is a completely new game.

Indore, Jan 23 (Ians) After taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match Odi series, India could be looking at making some changes to their playing eleven for the third and final game as they seek a 3-0 finish against New Zealand at Holkar Stadium on Tuesday.
After a 3-0 series victory over Sri Lanka, India wouldn’t want to let their guard down in a dead rubber and inflict a series sweep over a New Zealand missing stalwarts like Kane Williamson and Tim Southee.
New Zealand, on the other hand, will have pride to play for in Indore and a win would do their confidence a world of good ahead of the three T20Is against India, where Mitchell Santner will be captaining them.

Raipur, Jan 22 (Ians) Since the start of the year, Mohammed Shami didn’t have the best of the starts in first four ODIs, picking as many wickets. But in Raipur on Saturday, Shami was at his vintage best, scything through the New Zealand batting line-up to set the base for a comprehensive eight-wicket victory, giving India an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
His set-up of Finn Allen in the opening over of Raipur’s first international match was a treat to watch. Three outswingers were followed by a straight delivery, before the nip-backer hit the stumps after evading the bat and brushing past the back pad.
With his straight seam position and bowling on good length consistently, Shami never gave any freebies to the Blackcaps batters, deceiving Daryl Mitchell to take a superb low catch and then bounced out Michael Bracewell after switching to over the wicket angle to...

Raipur, Jan 21 (Ians) The Indian bowlers were accurate in their bowling, fetched good swing, turn, bounce, and took sharp return catches in an impressive show to bundle out New Zealand for just 108 in the second Odi at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
On a pitch with some amount of grass cover, Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami found seam movement to run through the New Zealand top and middle-order, reducing them to 15/5 at one stage.
Though Glenn Phillips, Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner played some defiant knocks, they were unable to bail their side out of trouble and the pressure was maintained by Hardik Pandya, Shardul Thakur, Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav.
Rohit Sharma’s decision to bowl first brought was rewarded immediately as Shami got one to nip back in and go past Finn Allen’s flick to crash into the stumps on the fifth ball of the innings.

Raipur, Jan 21 (Ians) India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl first against New Zealand in the second Odi at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Cricket Stadium on Saturday. India are currently leading the three-match series 1-0.

Raipur, Jan 20 (Ians) After surviving a mighty scare from all-rounder Michael Bracewell in a successful defence of 349 in the first match, India will be aiming to overcome New Zealand challenge in the second Odi and clinch back to back 50-over match series at home here, which will be Raipur’s debut as an international cricket venue on Saturday.
The Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Cricket Stadium, with a crowd capacity of 49,000, is all set to become the 50th venue in India to host an Odi match. The stadium had hosted two Ipl games of Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in 2013 and 2015, and also played host to eight matches of the now-defunct Champions League T20.

Hyderabad, Jan 18 (Ians) New Zealand off-spin all-rounder Michael Bracewell produced a stunning counter-attack through a 78-ball 140 but his fightback went in vain as India won by 12 runs in the first Odi to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, here on Wednesday.
After Shubman Gill produced a magnificent display of batsmanship to make 208 off 149 balls, laced with 19 fours and nine sixes, and becoming youngest batter to hit a double century in men’s ODIs as India made a massive 349/8, New Zealand were in trouble at 131/6.
Bracewell, who hit 12 fours and ten sixes in his 78-ball knock, took charge of the chase and added 162 off just 102 balls for the seventh wicket with Mitchell Santner, who made 57 off 45 balls.
India were put into massive pressure and it needed wickets from local lad Mohammed Siraj, who took 4/46, apart from Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur taking out...

Hyderabad, Jan 18 (Ians) India captain Rohit Sharma has won the toss and elected to bat first against New Zealand in the Odi series opener at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here on Wednesday.
After winning the toss, Rohit said fast-bowling all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur along with left-handed wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan come into the playing eleven. The trio come in place of an injured Shreyas Iyer as well as Kl Rahul and Axar Patel not available due to personal reasons.
“Looks a good pitch, little dry. We want to make sure we want to bowl under lights and defend score. We did well against Sri Lanka, but this is a different challenge. Important for us to keep the momentum going. Everyone is pushing each other in the squad. The spirit in the team is really good,” he added.
New Zealand skipper Tom Latham said he would have bowled first anyway.

Auckland, Dec 19 (Ians) Left-handed batter Mark Chapman on Monday was awarded his first New Zealand Cricket (Nzc) central contract, filling in vacancy left by veteran opener Martin Guptill’s departure in November.
Chapman has played 22 T20Is and five ODIs for New Zealand since making his debut in 2018, making 381 runs and 111 runs respectively. He has also been a member of the New Zealand team in last two Icc Men’s T20 World Cup campaigns.
Before this, he had played 21 matches for Hong Kong. He has also played 128 matches for his domestic team Auckland. A powerful and inventive left-hand batsman, Chapman offers an option with his left-arm orthodox spin bowling and is a highly rated fielder in the New Zealand cricket circuit.
“We’re delighted to have Mark join the central contract list after being there or thereabouts for a while. He’s a fine player and we like the versatility...

Bridgetown (Barbados), Aug 14 (Ians) Experienced New Zealand pace bowler Matt Henry has been ruled out of the three-match One-day International series against the West Indies due to a rib injury, dealing a huge blow to the tourists who are currently involved in a T20I series in the Caribbean.
Henry, a veteran of 60 ODIs, experienced pain in his left side during training last week and the affected area failed to improve following treatment, according to Icc.
The 30-year-old pacer will now fly back to New Zealand in the hope that he recovers in time for the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy Odi series against Australia in September.
Henry’s departure will see inexperienced quick Ben Sears board the flight to the Caribbean as replacement, with the 24-year-old in line for his international Odi debut during the three-match series that commences this week.
While New Zealand coach Gary Stead was disappointed to lose Henry,...
