- Lucien Laurin was born on March 18, 1912 in Joliette, Québec, Canada. He died on June 26, 2000 in Key Largo, Florida, USA.
- Trainer in Thoroughbred racing of the legendary Secretariat. In 1973 he became the first trainer in twenty-five years to win the U.S. Triple Crown.
- Inducted in the United States Racing Hall of Fame in 1977 and the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame in 1978.
- In 1972, Lucien Laurin was voted Thoroughbred racing's Eclipse Award for Outstanding Trainer in the United States.
