Dimitri Ghijs was born on April 15, 1977 in Ghent, Belgium. He is a screenwriter, editor and cameraman known for Heidevolk: Nehalennia (2010) and other music videos. He co-founded Framecat Film & Video Productions, together with his partner.
He studied Audiovisual Arts at the Stedelijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten, where he graduated in 2004.
Dimitri's career in film and TV began at production company Havana, where he worked as a VJ (a journalist, cameraman, sound engineer and editor in one). He took a course at The Rosenblum Institute to improve his skills. In 2007, Dimitri moved to Holland where he worked as an Avid Editor for post-production companies such as Avi-Drome, United Broadcast Facilities and Talpa Media. His editing credits include mostly reality television shows such as 'De Gouden Kooi (The Golden Cage)', created by John de Mol. After moving back to Belgium, Dimitri went on to work as a freelance editor. Other credits include 'Missie Amazone', 'De Inrichters' and 'Mijn Restaurant' for Kanakna Productions.
In 2009, Dimitri co-founded Framecat Film & Video Productions, together with his partner Kristien De Brouwer. They produced numerous music videos for Dutch and Belgian bands, including Heidevolk, Only Fate Remains, Detonation, Signs of Darkness and The Difference.
After ten years of filming, editing and writing short scripts, the cinematic possibilities began to intrigue him. Dimitri had long been an avid movie buff, and his deepening interest in the medium inspired him to write his first complete, feature-length screenplay, 'Ostrich Man'.
