Daniela Stephan, is an accomplished writer-director and editor born in Beirut, Lebanon. From an early age, she immersed herself in the world of storytelling and essay writing. Her passion for cinema led her to pursue a degree in Cinema at the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (ALBA), and later, she refined her craft at the London Film School in the UK.
In her creative journey, Daniela crafted "Mummy Blue," a compelling short film that garnered recognition at various festivals. Notably, it earned her the prestigious title of Best Female Director at the Tokyo International Short Film Festival in 2022. Her second short film, "The Sun Sets On Beirut," set in the aftermath of the 2020 Beirut Blast, resonated on an international level. This poignant work was selected for over 15 international festivals, including the Tampere Film Festival (Oscar®, BAFTA, and EFA qualifying). It received accolades such as the Jury Award and Audience Award at the Beirut Women Film Festival and the Grand Prix at Les Nuits Méditerranéennes.
Daniela's narratives embody a strong rebel voice, consistently probing into themes of identity, intergenerational trauma, and the socio-political challenges confronting her hometown, Beirut.
