- Born in London to Jamaican parents. Moved to Kingston, Jamaica at the age of 5 where he lived with his mother's parents for five years before moving to the Bronx, New York.

- Performed in his first play at age 12 at P. S. 41 in the Bronx.

- Attended Mount Saint Michael High School in the Bronx, graduated 1988.
- Spent over 20 years as a Child Care Counselor in various group homes and rehab centers in New York and Los Angeles.
