- Through marriage and blood Alexandra was an aunt to both Tsar Nicholas II and his wife Tsarina Alexandra. Nicholas was the son of her sister Marie and Alexandra was the daughter of her husband's sister Alice.

- Alexandra not only knew of her husband's philandering, but actually made a point of befriending many of his mistresses, including Lily Langtry; Daisy Greville, Countess of Warwick; humanitarian Agnes Keyser; and Jennie Jerome, mother of Winston Churchill. She allowed another mistress, society matron Alice Keppel, to visit the king at his deathbed.
