Kolkata, April 29 (Ians) Ahead of their clash against Gujarat Titans in Ipl 2023, Kolkata Knight Riders head coach Chandrakant Pandit stated that it is very crucial for his team to win rest of their six matches in the tournament to stand a chance of qualifying for the playoffs.
“The destination is very far for us in this season. We still have six matches and it is important that we win all six of these matches. I won’t say it is difficult but we have to pull up our socks and fight till the last match,” he said in a pre-match chat with the broadcasters.
Big-hitting all-rounder Andre Russell turns 35 on Saturday, but hasn’t produced any impactful performance yet. Pandit thinks they are waiting for the right moment to come for Russell to showcase his skills and come good.

Kolkata, April 7 (Ians) Even the most ardent Kolkata Knight Riders fan in the Eden Gardens wouldn’t have anticipated the turnaround Shardul Thakur would bring with the bat against Royal Challengers Bangalore when the hosts’ were down and out at 89/5 in 11.3 overs.
But Thakur slammed 68 off 29 balls, with nine fours and three sixes at a strike-rate of 234.48 and grabbed the record for the joint-fastest fifty of the season along with Jos Buttler in 20 balls. Since its glorious inception in 2008, the property has grown by leaps and bounds. Cricket as a sport, thereafter, has grown expeditiously and has captured millions of eyeballs. The T20 format, which was once scoffed at by conventional followers, has brought about modernity, spark and youthfulness. The wonderful extension that has arisen from the quick, fast-paced limited-overs version is the way in which it has seeped into bettering the longer version of the game i.e. Test cricket. Teams around the world have become result oriented and one is seeing a far more positive approach to the game.
The Ipl has introduced a few innovative changes in this year’s tournament. The toss, because of the dew factor, did at times assist one who happened to win it and so announcing the final eleven after it, is in itself quite an important change. The ‘Impact’ player option does put that extra spice into the game.

Kolkata, March 28 (Ians) Kolkata Knight Riders head coach Chandrakant Pandit is hoping that Shreyas Iyer will be back very soon and feels the right-hander can still play a part for the team in the upcoming Indian Premier League (Ipl) 2023.
The recurrence of back pain has kept Shreyas out of the tournament for the time being. He has been doing his rehab but there is very little clarity over the possibility of him returning at some stage.
As a result, the two-time champion Kkr has named Nitish Rana as their skipper for the upcoming season.
“Whatever little cricket I have played or coached, I have never gone back over things like squad unavailability. Shreyas’s absence will make a difference since he is important, but this is truly unfortunate. We are hoping Shreyas will be back very soon and that will make a lot of difference to the team,” Pandit said...

England Test captain Ben Stokes deciding to quit ODIs and New Zealand pace bowler Trent Boult not opting for a central contract indicates the possible pathway forward for some well-established men’s players.
Ipl side Kolkata Knight Riders decided to fill the vacancy of head coach left vacant by Brendon McCullum’s departure by appointing Chandrakant Pandit. Pandit’s name is synonymous with delivering consistent results in domestic cricket. Someone who has played the game at the highest level, he has seen all the corridors through which players walk.
He comes from an era where technique and temperament were the basis to become a complete player and then learning patience to construct a long innings. For him, cricket did not change irrespective of the state, the player or the team.
