"Imagine" - The Hal Jordan story
Inspired by the more-than-a-decade-long, challenging journey through his own mind confronting his fears, self-doubts and other self-imposed limitations & obstacles, Andy Thomas Leitner discovered a colossal passion for bringing the character of Hal Jordan to life.
What to him seemed an incredibly foolish and laughable aspiration in the beginning (mainly as a result of his lack of imagination, his self-worth and the human desire to be accepted/loved rather than rejected and laughed at) has now become a powerful, motivating vision he can't get out of his mind.
Andy always understood one core concept about Hal Jordan:
His power lies within his imagination.
However, that concept did not mean very much to Andy for a long time.
For a long time, Andy carried belief systems within him that negatively impacted the quality of every second of his life. He felt miserable.
And even if he was able to imagine his wildest dreams and goals, his belief systems made sure he would never actually take steps to accomplish them.
His core belief system, known to most people on this planet at least subconsciously was:
I am not good enough. And the way I am, I am not worthy of love.
Even though he - actually - tried his best every second of his life, he never allowed himself to see that.
He always made sure not to feel good enough.
But one day, something happened:
After dealing with financial issues for a long time, Andy came upon an article about attracting an abundance mindset.
Included in that article were positive affirmations proposed by the author to attract said abundance mindset.
Normally, especially in a hopeless, negative state, Andy would always dismiss affirmations as positive thinking, not working and basically lying to oneself.
He was not able to believe in affirmations telling him "he was enough" when he felt like he wasn't. But reading one sentence, one affirmation changed everything:
My mind is powerful.
Andy suddenly, in all his darkness, found something he could believe in.
Andy understood & believed that for him to be so frozen, scared and hopeless in life, he must have an incredibly powerful mind at work.
That was exactly the moment in which he truly connected with his own power, as well as with the character of Hal Jordan.
From that moment on, Andy did not simply want to portray a superhero.
He realized that if done the right way, the Green Lantern can become the most influential character in cinematic history.
Even though many of us look up to other heroes like Superman, we can not relate to their supernatural, fictional superpowers as much.
Green Lantern, on the other hand, even though wielding a supernatural ring of power, is a hero whose true strength lies within his imagination.
This is a power everyone of us has. Everyone of us has imagination.
That is what makes the Green Lantern relatable and allows for immense impact on "us humans"
But just like the Green Lantern, our state of mind affects what we are able to imagine.
If done the right way, Hal Jordan can inspire millions of people to understand the power of imagination and overcome any of their belief systems limiting them from unleashing their full potential.
If done the right way, this character will unleash the Hal Jordan in each one of us.
Andy believes that his journey through personal development as outlined (and beyond) allows him to bring valuable skills of relevancy to the table.
Andy, however, is also fully aware that many factors heavily speak against his portrayal of the character, ranging from his lack of in-depth acting experience to his young age to several limiting beliefs he still fights, to a movie studio taking a multi-million dollar chance on a total newcomer, but at his core, he knows / believes / imagines to be up for the task.
Andy does not necessarily believe that he needs to star in the upcoming Green Lantern Corps Movie, as he is aware that for his version of the character, a new script likely ought to be created.
Andy also heavily envisions a multiple-picture storyarc in which Hal Jordan temporarily turns into a Red Lantern, returning to his green Lantern abilities after dealing with the rage inside of him, and finally becoming a Blue Lantern, realizing that hope will always be more powerful than imagination
("I don't know how, but I know we will do it.")
Andy is excited to work with storytellers and creative minds to bring his vision of the character of Hal Jordan to life, whenever that may be.
