Madcap magician David Blaine's shocking mutilation stunt was achieved using a lifesize mold of his ear, according to a British make-up expert. The master trickster stunned a London press conference yesterday when he appeared to hack off a piece of his left ear with a penknife, after a journalist asked him if he had any new tricks. But Marcus Whitney, who works on top British TV medical drama Casualty, says Blaine would have attached a false ear - made of alginate - to his head. He believes his actual ear would have been pressed down by a bowl cap. As for the vast quantities of blood, Whitney claims either the mock ear or his hair had been filled with red liquid, the latter activated by the squeeze of a trigger or step on a foot pump.
