A winner was finally crowned on Friday’s finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 5, but before the queen in question could receive her one-year supply of Anastasia Beverly Hills cosmetics, the Top 3 had to survive their most harrowing challenge yet: a surprise reunion.
While this season’s seven eliminated queens watched and giggled from behind an extremely obvious glory hole, Jujubee told Shea Coulee and Miz Cracker that they were the final three she always envisioned (me too!), which didn’t sit well with some of the Bitter Betties behind the scenes. “Do we all sound this fake?...

Friday’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars paired up this season’s fiercest frenemies (who knew there were so many?) for a TMZ-inspired challenge, reminding us that the tastiest drama is often unscripted.
Of course, things were already dramatic in the workroom even before the queens were forced to literally act out their drama on camera. Following Mariah Paris Balenciaga’s elimination, the queens convened backstage, where Mayhem Miller and Alexis Mateo both admitted to voting for Shea Coulee. Neither queen had a particularly good reason for doing so, but at least Mayhem admitted that the decision backfired big time.

The queens came, they conquered, and now one has walked away with the crown!
Despite social-distancing across the country, the final three lipsynced virtually head-to-head on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 12 Episode 14. No live audience to cheer them on; only green screens and filters to support their performances.
This finale will go down in the record books as a first for reality TV.
Before the queens lipsynced for the crown, there was some hesitation about how RuPaul and the team would pull this together. I mean, it's a finale that involves lipsyncs!
This isn't a reunion show that could easily be cut together like RuPaul's Drag Race Season 12 Episode 13.
The grand finale involves lipsync battles and knocking each other out in stages. The format could potentially change, but there had to be some fairness to keep all the queens on the same playing field. Not all queens would have access to the same editing and technology.

Season 12 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” came to a close on Friday, May 5th after a rollercoaster of a season that culminated in only three finalists competed in pre-recorded lip sync performances virtually from home. Finalists Crystal Methyd, Gigi Goode and Jaida Essence Hall were three of four queens that lasted until the end of a season taped prior to the Covid-19 pandemic stay-at-home orders. The fourth queen, Sherry Pie, was notoriously disqualified from taking her earned spot in the grand finale after admitting to catfishing allegations prior to the airing of the season.

‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ queens throw shade at Sherry Pie: There’s ‘only 12’ girls in our season, not 13
The claws are out and all of the manicurists are in quarantine.
During the remotely produced “RuPaul’s Drag Race” reunion special, the Season 12 queens dressed in their most extravagant slumber party attire as they rehashed VH1’s reality TV show. The episode opened with a fun “Shady Bunch” rap in which the queens declared, “We were 13 queens competing all together — well, technically only 12 — but like Macaulay on Christmas now we’re home alone, too!” Of course, that bit of shade was directed toward Sherry Pie, the show’s 13th contestant who was disqualified from attending the reunion and grand finale after admitting to being a catfish.

Spill all the tea. Dish all the dirt. Check all the WiFi connections.
The queens have reunited for the first-ever Drag Race virtual reunion on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 12 Episode 13.
No topic was off the table now that the queens have watched every episode from RuPaul's Drag Race Season 12. Though, there was no physical table since they have to social-distance. (This was a first for the series.)
Drag Race isn't afraid to try something new. They've shaken up formats in the past, like when they incorporated the "Lipsync For The Crown" finale from the previous split reunion/finale. Finding a new way to deliver on an episode is right up their alley.
Plus, the reunions are so much fun! It would've been a shame to lose out on having the queens reunited and spill the tea on the events of the season.

With six episodes of season 12 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” tucked away and Aiden Zhane, the source of most of the tension so far, out of the way did the queens finally find a sense of harmony with one another? Not so fast! While Brita was on a high after winning another lip sync, fellow New Yorker Jan remained frustrated at having never been among the top performers and Heidi N Closet was still reeling from two-time challenge winner Gigi Goode telling her during “Untucked” that her makeup skills need more work.

Snatch Game is the great equalizer of the competition. You can't hide behind small acting roles or stunning ensembles; you have to shine on your own.
On RuPaul's Drag Race Season 12 Episode 6, the queens made their big attempt to win the iconic Maxi Challenge!
Some landed heavy-hitter jokes that brought the funny, others hit a few missteps, while others flat-lined completely. The proof is in the comedic pudding.
The choice of Snatch Game characters is very important. If a queen chooses an overly series or unfunny role, her chances to win are over before they even started.
This misstep has hindered many queens in the past, like the infamously disastrous Snatch Game on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 4 or when anyone chose Beyonce against their better judgment.

With five episodes of season 12 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” tucked away, tensions continued to mount between New York’s confident queen Brita and Georgia’s small town up-and-comer Aiden Zhane. Last week, Aiden and Brita were scene partners in a dramatic acting challenge, but Aiden scored among the tops of the week while Brita fell into the bottom of the pack for the third straight week and battled in the Lip Sync for Your Life for the second time. In that battle she bested France’s Nicky Doll, sending the fashionista home.

Friday’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race was a long time coming — for several reasons. Not only did it begin with Snatch Game, easily the show’s most popular recurring challenge, but it also ended with a long-awaited battle between two rival queens.
Spoiler alert: Those queens were Aiden Zhane and Brita, and their conflict started way before they hit the runway. While reacting to Nicky Doll’s elimination in the workroom, Brita said she was “shook” to find herself in the bottom, then asked how Aiden managed to be safe when the two were basically partners in the Gay’s Anatomy challenge.

Acting challenges can either be hit or miss. Depending on the script, it could be hilarious or a hot mess. And, a bad part can spell disaster, regardless of what's being done to save it.
On RuPaul's Drag Race Season 12 Episode 5, the parody of Grey's Anatomy brought back all the iconic tropes you've come to expect from an acting challenge.
Missed lines, some queens shining bright, and others suffering under bad roles. But did the scene come to life or did it flatline?

The fashion ball is back on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 12 Episode 4!
Are you surprised? They bring it to you on the runway every season.
Thirty-six outfits strutting the stage with plenty of personalities and a flair for fashion. A jam-packed hour to find out which queens can bring it ... and which ones should bring it back home. (Where's Heidi Klum when you need her?)
Before we jump into all the fashion-forward moments, we have to discuss the couch debrief. This is one of my favorite parts of any RuPaul's Drag Race episode.
The queens get to chat, debrief, and share their thoughts of the round before. We get a real and raw look into their mind after what happened and their motivation for the next stage.
Some queens fuel their fire while others continue to spiral after their previous missteps. The couch also foreshadows the future for the queens who steal the focus.

The 12th season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” kicked off on February 28th and March 6th in a special two-part premiere, but we didn’t see an elimination until March 13th’s third episode when Dahlia Sin was asked to “sashay away” for her reliance on sex appeal instead of showing more facets of her personality. In the Lip Sync for Your Life, Dahlia was bested by French queen Nicky Doll while Sherry Pie, since disqualified from all her challenge wins and a chance to win the title, was declared the winner of the week’s improv challenge and “buttons and bows” runway. This week Nicky had the chance to show the best side of her drag in what was a fashion-centric challenge–“The Ball Ball,” a three-part sports themed runway show.
