As a long time lover of film, make up, and any live performance, I traveled to San Francisco to attend a Make Up school to fine tune my current knowledge and perfect my artistry. I have learned many new skills and perfected what I already knew. From a young age, I would wonder how they created the make up in films and during concert or theatrical performances. I knew from the start that it was what I would want to do for my career. It just seem to fit and fall into place.
At Blush School of Make Up, we learned everything from the basics of color matching and correcting to the intense and fascinating world of Special Effects. During that six month, five days a week, eight hours a day time period, I grew as a make up artist and pushed myself out of my comfort zone with learning how to apply the tiniest details that created the best possible effect. Among the basics and the trendy, I learned how to do a proper application of make up and color correction on a male model for television, HD filming, and even live television. From the knowledge I had and had obtained, I was able to find my style and my voice in the make up.
After graduation, I was able to assist fellow make up artist during projects and go on projects of my own all around the Bay Area of California. In November of 2019, I had the amazing opportunity to work on an independent film in Oakland, California. I work on actors of many different ages and beautiful skin to transform them into young teens and beasts of old. I assisted the head of the make up department and work on set for tough ups and final look before they started to film scenes. It was one of the best experiences I have had as a make up artist. I created friendships and connections during that time that will never fade. This wonderful monster movie is The Lake Merritt Monster.
After the movie, I continued to do fun jobs and continue to grow my skills and expand my knowledge of make up and hair. I am excited to see where the rest of my career will take me and I am ready for more experience and travels down the road.
